The Continental was introduced in 1962. It’s unusual and futuristic shape was the invention of a design company (identity unknown) hired by JMI. Derek Underdown and Les Hills were the behind the technical design. The Continental underwent several design changes over the years. JMI produced Continentals for about 3-4 years, after which production was taken over by Thomas Organ and EME.
